Self Referral

Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Hertfordshire and Mid Essex Talking Therapies

The online portal for mental health services in Hertfordshire and Mid Essex. Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) provides access to primary care psychological therapy services in Hertfordshire and Mid Essex through a wide range of confidential talking therapy treatments and practical support for adults with common mental health problems. The services are part of the national NHS Talking Therapies, for anxiety and depression programme.

Carers in Hertfordshire

If you support someone who could not manage without you, you are a carer. The person you look after might be a relative, friend or neighbour who is ill, frail, disabled, has mental health problems, or misuses drugs or alcohol. As a carer, you need to look after your own health and wellbeing too. We work closely with a local charity called Carers in Hertfordshire to identify carers and provide them with free help and support.

Pregnancy & Antenatal Care

When you first learn that you are pregnant, you can either self-refer to the Antenatal Clinic at Watford General Hospital or make an appointment to see your GP who will refer you to the Antenatal Clinic at Watford General Hospital. Watford General Hospital will contact you to arrange your first antenatal appointment. Throughout your pregnancy, your antenatal care will be organised by the Midwife.
